Penile Cancer

Penile cancer is rare and often aggressive form of cancer. It occurs almost exclusively in uncircumcised men.  Symptoms of penile cancer include a growth of the penis, sometimes accompanied by pain, skin changes, or bleeding.

Penile cancer treatment includes:

  • Local excision – this is an option if penile cancer is found early; the cancer can be removed with minimal residual effects on the penis.
  • Partial Penectomy – This is an option for more advanced penile cancer involving the end of the penis; Surgery involves removal of the end of the penis
  • Radical Penectomy – This is recommended in advanced cases involving a larger segment of the penis; Surgery involves removal of the entire penis and re-routing of the urethra (the channel through which urine passes)
