Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain
Interstitial cystitis refers to a condition that is marked by some combination of the following symptoms
- Chronic (long-standing) bladder pain. This pain often has some relationship to urination. It is often also affected by stress and diet.
- Frequency of urination
- Urgency of urination
- Waking more than twice per night to urinate
- Urge incontinence (involuntary leakage of urine related to a strong urge to urinate)
Treatment of Interstitial Cystitis can consist of
- Diet and lifestyle changes
- Oral medication
- Rescue Intsillation (medication placed into the bladder)
- Hydrodistenion
- Botox injection into the bladder
- Sacral neuromodulation
- Removal of the bladder and urinary diversion
