Epididymitis/Orchitis

Epididymitis/Orchitis – Inflammation of the testicle and/or epididymis is referred to as orchitis and epididymitis, respectively. Approximately one out of every thousand men will develop epididymitis/orchitis each year in the United States.

Symptoms of epididymitis/orchitis include severe pain and swelling in the scrotum, nausea, vomiting, and/or fevers.

Epididymitis/Orchitis is more likely to occur in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It can also be seen as a consequence of a urinary tract infection or certain sexually transmitted infections.

Treatment of epididymitis/orchitis generally involves rest, anitibiotics, and anti-inflammatories.
